Message Boards

An excellent way to give your research a jump start is to find others researching the same surnames, topics, and places as you.

There are many very helpful people contributing to the many available message boards and mailing lists.

You think of it, someone else will already have posted about it, somewhere.

All of these are free, but may require registration, which is recommended, as you can then generally select additional helpful features, such as notifications when a reply is posted to your message, find all your posts, manage changes of email address:

  1. Hi Margaret

I see your note is dated 10th of May so imagine someone has already let you know the answer to your question.

But just in case. I joined last week and if memory serves me correctly the site Kiwi Index available through the computers at the library has great listings of school rolls…. if as I say memory serves me correctly!

    All the best

    Leonie

  2. I’m looking for early NZ school rolls, particularly of Ashhurst School and Hiwinui School in Manawatu. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere or do we just rely on the goodwill of schools (who I wouldn’t bother at the moment!).
    Thanks, Margaret
