  One Response to “Communications”

  1. To Secretary Denice,

You asked for people to contact you at last night’s meeting regarding 58th Regiment soldiers who took up land following discharge.

My great great grandfather Charles Hogan came to NZ with the 58th in 1854, with his wife Elizabeth Priscilla Hogan (nee Rawlings) and three daughters on the “Egmont”. Upon discharge in 1857, he received a Crown Grant of Land at Mangawhai, where he stayed and raised a family including 5 more children born in NZ.

I have an idea that another relative in Auckland may have written up a report for the Mangawhai Museum regarding this family, and he has sent me a copy of his report. He was not sure what they intended using it for but I wonder if it was part of this study that the Pattersons are doing.

Can I be of any further assistance with this?

    Leonie McLeod
