A belated “Welcome to 2017” from the Outreach Services team.

 

The first family history monthly event for the year is coming up.  We are starting the year with one of our popular introductory tours of the family history collection. Whether you are new to family history research, or just need a refresher, join this tour that will introduce you to the many family history resources held in the Family History Collection and Alexander Turnbull Library. Fiona Gray, Research Librarian Family History, and Librarian Audrey Waugh, will be your guides.

On Wednesday 15 February 2017 Curator of Drawings Paintings and Prints, Dr Oliver Stead, talks about Gideon Mantell and the evolution of dinosaur imagery in Mantell: a monstrous vision, and the following week (22 February) Barbara Lyon, Curator Ephemera, will be discussing Social media promotion of the Ephemera Collection.

 

Both talks will be held in Te Ahumairangi ground floor of the National Library, corner of Aitken and Molesworth Streets, Thorndon, Wellington, and start at 5:30pm. These are public event but please RSVP to events.natlib@dia.govt.nz with Mantell or Ephemera in the subject line.
